FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — New legislation proposed in the California Assembly calls for banning retail pot shops, from selling customer data to third parties without consent.
Introduced by Democratic Assemblyman Evan Low, the measure would also block employers from obtaining information about workers who purchase marijuana.
Similar protections already exist for medical customers.
However, the bill would not be able to prevent the feds from seizing such data, as pot remains illegal at the federal level.
