Spanking Can Lead To Relationship Violence, Study Says

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Resorting to spanking as a form of discipline could result in your child being more likely to behave violently toward their dating partners.

That’s according to a new study in Journal of Pediatrics, which involved 700 participants in southeast Texas.

19 percent of those who took part said they’ve committed some form of violence while dating.

Of those participants, 69 percent said they where physically punished as children.

Researchers say while they can’t be certain there’s a connection, sending a message that physical punishment is way to resolve a conflict can be detrimental.
