FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno is the nation’s 99th safest city in 2017.
Wallethub.com compared 182 of the nation’s largest metropolitan areas on 35 key indicators of safety, from assaults and murders to the number of first responders like police and firefighters, to the risks of natural disasters like earthquakes, and flooding.
Nashua, New Hampshire was the safest U.S. city – Ft. Lauderdale the least.
Irvine topped the list of safest California cities at number 44, San Bernadino was the least safe at 180.
Other cities ranking lower than Fresno include Sacramento, 110; San Francisco 114; Modesto 130, and Bakersfield 141; with Los Angeles right behind at 142.
Visalia, Madera and Hanford metro areas were not included in the list.
