FRESNO,CA (KMJ) – A Fresno jury finds the man dubbed the “Starbucks Bandit” guilty of the crimes.

30 year old Ryan Michael Flores was found guilty on November 14th of Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Attempted Robbery with the personal use of a deadly or dangerous weapon, a knife.

On July 20th of 2017, Flores tried to rob a barista at local Starbucks at Herndon and the 99 Freeway while using a knife and a fake firearm.

His attempt was foiled due to the courage of Cregg Jerri, a Fresno man who intervened using nothing more than his courage and a chair.

After a struggle where Jerri took the knife away from Flores, the robbery attempt was unsuccessful and Mr. Flores fled the scene.

During testimony, both sides argued about the extent of Jerri’s stab wounds, but the jury did not find Flores guilty of great bodily injury – which could have added 3 years to the sentence.

The Fresno County Superior Court jury deliberated for only a few hours before finding Flores guilty of the two charges.

Flores faces a sentence of up to five years in state prison when he is sentenced on December 13th.
