FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the suspicious death Wednesday of a toddler in Calwa.
The call came in to Fresno Police at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning about an unresponsive baby boy from a home on the 24 block of South 9th Street.
Police handed the case over to the Fresno Sheriff’s Office because the home was located within the county.
“All we know is that the boy was apparently taking a nap in his room, the man went in there to check on him, he looked peaceful but then he started taking a closer examination, he was unresponsive, and the mother came into the room and they both determined that the child was unresponsive and so that’s why they called 911.” – Tony Botti, Sheriff’s Spokesperson.
Fresno County Sheriff’s Spokesperson Tony Botti says the boy would have turned two next month, but was pronounced dead at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Botti says the Sheriff’s Office deputies have detained and are questioning the parents to figure out what happened.
No arrests have been made.
