FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — California lawmakers have approved a bill that would establish a third gender option, when applying for a driver license, or state-issued ID card.
If signed into law, the options would be “male,” “female,” and “non-binary.”
Additionally, the DMV would no longer request documentation for a gender choice.
The measure, which supporters believe could affect up to 250,000 Californians, now awaits the approval of Gov. Jerry Brown.
