FRESNO, CA (KMJ ) – A wildfire burning near Shaver Lake, on Monday causes evacuations.
The fire began in an area by Indian Rock Road and Musick Creek Lane near Shaver Lake before noon.
By 2:00pm, the fire had grown to seven acres prompting Cal Fire to issue a mandatory evacuation order for homes west of Highway 168, and an advisory for those homes east of 168.
By 3:00pm the fire’s forward progress stopped, but Cal Fire Duty Captain Paul Pumarejo said it would take time to clean up, “because of the area up there with all the ground litter and dust from, you know, all the years and stuff up there, there’s going to be extensive mop-up up and extensive overhaul and stuff in there.”
Captain Pumarejo estimated it would be two to three days before the Shaver Fire was completely out.
