Bill Would Legalize Heroin Clinics in California

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Legal heroin injection centers could become a reality in the Golden State.

A measure aimed at reducing heroin-related deaths has cleared the California Assembly, and is awaiting a vote in the Senate.=

However, many remain skeptical, including Fresno Mayor Lee Brand, who tells KMJ, “It’s a slow degradation of our society — our fabric here — and step by step, it’s been pulled apart. Drugs, which I believe are epidemic across the nation, and including Fresno, are major problem.”

If approved, AB 186 would make California the first state in the nation — to permit illegal drug use — in designated zones.
