FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – The Fresno City Council votes to impose restrictions on pot cultivation and bans marijuana dispensaries across the city.
For several hours on Thursday, Fresno residents spoke before the city council about the issue of pot dispensaries – many on both sides of the issues.
At the start of the discussion, Council President Clint Olivier surprised many when he proposed a separate measure seeking to allow both recreational and medicinal marijuana dispensaries within city limits.
In the end, the council voted 4-3 to restrict cannabis, cultivation and ban marijuana dispensaries.
Councilmembers Esmeralda Soria and Oliver Baines joined Olivier as the votes opposing it.
The measure now returns to council next week for final approval.
