Study: Consumers Often Know Very Little About Wine

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Millions of bottles of wine are consumed all over the world every year.

According to a paper recently published in Food Research International, however, most consumers know virtually nothing about them.

Researchers say likes are often influenced by aesthetics, such as labels.

Some involved in a recent study developed likes and dislikes based on such factors, before even having a taste.

Wine sales have picked up substantially in recent years, especially among younger consumers.
