Motorcycle Run in Memory of Sgt. Rod Lucas

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A motorcycle run is happening Saturday (6/10) in memory of fallen Fresno County Sheriff Sergeant Rod Lucas.

The Rod Lucas “Poker Run” will begin in Fresno and then head to five different Central Valley cities – Selma, Lemoore (then riding past where Sgt. Lucas is buried), Riverdale, San Joaquin and ending in Tranquility.  In each city, the riders get a poker card – and at the end those with the best poker hands will win prizes. There’s also going to be a raffle and a barbeque.

“Rod was friends with a bunch of people – not only in the community he grew up in but all throughout Fresno County and neighboring cities,” said event organizer Chon Camacho.  “Being a sheriff he touched a lot of people in a good way.  People knew him as a man of God, a great speaker, and someone to follow as an example.  I wanted to do something to help keep Rod’s memory alive.”

All the proceeds from the event will go to the Rod Lucas Memorial Scholarship.  If you want to join by motorcycle or car – head to Fresno Harley Davidson at 7am tomorrow morning for registration.
