Prayer Walk Vigil Honors Shooting Victims

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A prayer walk vigil took place in downtown Fresno on Thursday, April 20th.

After the violence that shook the city of Fresno on Tuesday, the vigil was set up by the Pastor Clusters of the Fresno/Clovis area, with an invitation sent on short notice for 200 pastors and church leaders to walk and pray.

The event drew around two dozen pastors at the noon hour, gathering at Divisadero and Fulton where they prayed together and then started their walk.

They headed down Fulton Street, and walked the route where the three white men lost their lives to a gunman on Tuesday – 37 year-old Mark Gassett, 34 year-old Zackary Randalls and 58 year-old David Martin Jackson.

Walkers stopped at Catholic Charities, where a temporary memorial was set up outside in the area where one of the victims lost his life, and nearby Fulton and Nevada, where another victim was shot.

The pastors and people who joined the vigil prayed for the families of the victims and the city to heal.
