FRESNO, CA (KMJ) -A Security Guard Is gunned down Friday morning, during a shooting at a Motel 6 at Blackstone and Ashlan.
Chief Jerry Dyer says a female checked into the motel and was visited by a male guest.
It’s motel policy he says that when someone new checks in, they need to go to the lobby and check in as well.
Since that didn’t happen, security guards went to the room, and asked the occupants to present identification.
Chief Dyer says they complied…but then both male and female went back to the room, and was followed by the guard.
A verbal altercation occurred between the male and female and the guard. They walked back to the front of the office and the African American male pulled out a gun and shot the unarmed security guard, who was standing by the stairwell.
The security guard died after being struck multiple times.
Chief Dyer says investigators are currently trying to locate the person they believe to be responsible for the murder.
