FPPC Proposes Fines Against Calif. Pot Legalization Opponents

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The Fair Political Practices Commission has proposed fines of almost $10,000, against two committees who sought to defeat the legalization of recreational marijuana in California.

The Public and Mental Health Advocates Against 64 committee is being hit with a $3,500 penalty, for being slow to alter its ad disclosures, to identify a donor who put up more than $50,000.

Meanwhile, A Committee Against Proposition 64 with Help from Citizens, is being fined $6,000 for a host of violations, including being late to file its list of contributors.

Prop. 64 passed last November, with about 57 percent of California voters giving it the green light.
