FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The unemployment rate continues to decline, as more Californians get back into the labor force.
However, there’s still a deficit of full-time employment opportunities, according to a new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The bureau says more than 900,000 Californians last year had to take part-time gigs.
In addition to the underemployed segment of the workforce, thousands fall into the “discouraged workers” category, meaning they’ve given up on looking for a job.
Still, recent surveys indicate increasing confidence among employers and entrepreneurs, which analysts predict will lead to additional job creation.
