FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The California Air Resources Board is moving ahead with stricter smog requirements for new vehicles.
The Trump Administration has been working to roll back several federal regulations implemented during the Obama Administration, which include mandating that passenger cars average 54 miles a gallon.
However, California is still able to set tougher standards, under a waiver program that acknowledges the state’s battle against pollution.
That’s likely to force automakers to use lighter materials.
