FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — As the Republican-led Congress and the Trump Administration vow to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Democratic California State Senator Ricardo Lara is introducing a bill, to establish a single-payer healthcare system.
The measure calls for state-negotiated prices, for medical services and prescription medications.
Lara is the same lawmaker who urged the withdrawal of a request, that the federal government grant the state permission to allow undocumented immigrants, to obtain insurance through Covered California.
Previous efforts for a single-payer system have failed in the Golden State.
