Malwarebytes: Stockton Among U.S. Hotspots for Ransomware

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The City of Stockton has the third-worst in America for ransomware attacks, in which hackers take over a victim’s computer, and demand money to release it.

Santa Clara-based Malwarebytes says cybercriminals are making substantial progress, carrying out more sophisticated attacks.

Six of the top ten cities in the software developer’s study are located in the Rust Belt, with vegas being the country’s ransomware capitol.
