FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — A new study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety finds that most headlights on late-model pickup trucks perform poorly.
Despite its generally high rating and LEDs, the new Ford F-150 is said to have inadequate lighting.
The 2016 Chevrolet Colorado is one of the worst when it comes to headlight performance.
The institute says the lights are so inadequate, that they don’t give the driver enough time to avoid an obstacle at freeway speeds.
The Dodge RAM is also scoring poorly, prompting some drivers to compensate with their fog lights.
IIHS researchers say several automakers are in the process of redesigning headlights, which are among a vehicle’s most vital safety features.
