Study: Election Stress Affecting Over Half Of Americans

people-voting

The election… stressing out Americans. Really.

The American Psychological Association found that 52% of Americans are stressed out by this year’s race to the White House.

Election stress is bipartisan and not gender specific – affecting both registered Democrats, Republicans, men and women.

Doctors found adults who use social media, people ages 71 and older, and Millennials, were significantly more stressed.

Negative and angry rhetoric, antagonistic campaigns may be to blame, also neglect by candidates to address issues important to older adults like social security, medicare and prescription costs, and the impact the election will have on people’s children or grandchildren are also contributing.

Doctors say if stress is coming from the 24 hour news cycle, they suggest limiting media consumption.
