AAA: Speeding a Major Factor in Fatalities Involving Teen Drivers

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Over the past five years, U.S. teens have been involved in nearly 14,000 fatal crashes.

According to AAA, more than 4,200 of those accidents involved speeding.

A recent survey of driving instructors, finds that a lack of parental involvement is responsible for today’s young drivers’ making more mistakes behind the wheel.

The other top causes of fatal crashes involving teens: cell phone use, taking to passengers, driving with tunnel vision, and not properly assessing road conditions.
