FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The City of Fresno and 17 Central Valley water agencies are suing the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, due to insufficient deliveries in 2014.
They allege that Millerton Lake had adequate water at the time, but the bureau chose not to honor their contracts, resulting in significant damage and losses.
Attorney Craig Parton tells KMJ News, “There’s a lot of confidence that ultimately this will be resolved. But, unfortunately, it’s going to have to be resolved by a court.”
The lawsuit seeks to recover fair market value of the water that wasn’t delivered, and assurance that contracts will be honored going forward.
