FRESNO (KMJ) – Fresno Police have made a number of arrests in Sunday’s attack on a CHP car.
The video went viral on social media showing a group of young mostly men from Fresno and the Bay area attending a car sideshow at Orange and North.
The CHP attempted to cite members for reckless driving and they attacked, kicking the CHP vehicle and smashing the back window before the officer drove away, leaving $12,000 dollars in damages to car.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says they’ve made arrests including Milton Rodriguez, 25, (seen below) who police say was recklessly driving a Chevy Tahoe.
“We have three individuals that we’ve arrested – one of those was the driver of the Tahoe that sped away (Milton Rodriez, 25, above) arrested for resisting arrest and reckless driving. Two other individuals were arrested for felony vandalism and inciting a riot (Federico Gonzalez, 22, below left, Gabriel Deanda, 18 below middle). We have a 3rd individual identified by name (19 year old Guadalupe Gonzales, below right) who has an outstanding warrant for felony vandalism and inciting a riot, and then we also have five other still photographs that we’ve put out in the media of people we need identified who are also involved, who will be facing a number of crimes for felony vandalism – one of those individuals is wanted for attempted assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.” – Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
Police are still looking to ID more people from the CHP dashboard camera video.
The suspects that were arrested were from the Fresno area but some people were coming in from the Bay area to attend.
Chief Dyer says the PD and the CHP will not stand for anarchy and lawlessness no matter where the people attending these events are from – they will cite drivers and make arrests if illegal activities occur at these car “Sideshows.”
