Can Caffeine Help Lower Your Risk for Dementia?

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — It appears increasing your caffeine consumption, may boost your ability to prevent dementia.

Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee say participants who consumed more than 261 milligrams of caffeine each day, saw a 36 percent reduction in dementia risk, over a 10-year period.

That’s equal to about three 8-ounce cups of coffee, five to six cups of black tea, or seven to eight cans of cola.

The study authors say the relation between caffeine and dementia isn’t definitive, but looks to be promising.
