FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — While lower prices at the pump are generally considered beneficial for the pocketbooks of most Americans, they may result in job losses.
That’s a claim being made by the Michigan Center for Automotive Research.
The center predicts that cheap fuel will lead to a major slump in sales of hybrids, electric vehicles, and other cars with great efficiency.
The auto industry, experts say, is investing about $200 billion in those cars, and if sales lag, jobs will be cut.
As for the estimated number of eliminated positions: 1.1 million.
