Reward For Slain California Coastal Otters

FRESNO (KMJ) – Someone shot three federally protected sea otters off California’s Coast,

There’s now a $10,000 reward for tips that would lead federal and state officials to a suspect.

Two juveniles and an adult otter, were found dead between the Santa Cruz Harbor and Seacliff State Beach in Aptos between August 12th and 19th.

Southern Sea Otters are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act and California Wildlife laws.

Killing one is punishable by up to $100-thousand dollars in fines and jail time.
