Brunch Reunites Honor Flight Veterans

CLOVIS, CA (KMJ) – World War II and Korean War veterans who have traveled on the Central Valley Honor Flight reunited Thursday morning.

The Old Town Clovis Kiwanis Club got the veterans together at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District Ballroom for this reunion brunch, for the second year in a row.

Vets from the April and June honor flights got together to listen to guest speakers and reminisce about their experiences on the trips.

“When they started the flights 3 years ago there was a prediction they would never get past two trips because the Valley just didn’t have the money,” said Central Valley Honor Flight President Al Perry. “We’re about to take our 11th flight. By the time we’re done with our 12th we will have raised almost $2 million.”

About 200 vets gathered for Thursday’s reunion brunch. You can hear some of their stories on “Hometown Heroes” which airs every Saturday at 6pm on KMJ. Recent broadcasts are also archived here.
