Americans Taking Less Vacation Time, Using What They Do For Unrelated Activities

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — More Americans are using at least a portion of their vacation time for activities unrelated to vacation, such as running errands or sleeping.

A new Wakefield Research survey finds that more than 70 percent of working adults, take at least one vacation day a year to stay in bed, and about 40 percent say they take a week or more off of work to catch up on sleep.

A majority also report taking time off just to tend to various needs of family, or to go to appointments.

Another recent survey from the Center for Economic and Policy Research found that over the past 15 years, the overall amount of vacation time Americans are taking has declined, with more than half leaving time on the books in 2015.
