Study: The More You Read The Longer You May Live

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Bookworms appear to live longer than those who don’t spend much time reading.

Yale University researchers tracked more than 3,600 hundred people older than 50 for 12 years.

They were divided into three groups: non-readers, those who read more than 3.5 hours per week, and those who read less than that.

Those who read more than 3.5 hours, lived 23 months longer, than those who didn’t read at all.

The study’s authors say the extended life span was applicable, regardless of gender, income, race, or education levels.

The data shows that reading often results in better health behaviors and less stress, which means living longer.
