UC Davis Chancellor Resigns Following Investigation into Dishonesty, Policy Violations

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi is stepping down, following an independent investigation, revealing poor judgement, dishonesty, and violations of policy.

University of California President Janet Napolitano placed Katehi on administrative leave earlier this year, facing intense scrutiny over her use of university resources.

Katehi accepted a six-figure seat before receiving the okay from Napolitano on the board of DeVry University, which has been investigated for misleading students.

She’s also come under fire for receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in stocks and income from textbook publisher John Wiley and Sons, which critics say shows a conflict of interest, and for expensive university-funded travel, of which the benefits are not apparent.

Even with Katehi’s resignation, she’ll remain a full-time UC faculty member.

A search for her replacement is underway.
