FRESNO (KMJ) — Hundreds of Delta flights across the country have been canceled Monday morning due to a power outage in Atlanta. Limited departures are now taking place, but the affected flights could spell repercussions for some time still.
“They’re still trying to get their systems together”, says Daniel Baker CEO of FlightAware.com. “Until they can be at a point when they’re departing several flights a minute instead of several flights every 30 minutes, they’re going to get further and further behind”.
For those flying out Monday, advice is to check with the airline themselves. Delta are expressing apologies to those affected by the issue and are warning that there may be some lag time displaying accurate flight status information on departure boards and online.
“I would still encourage passengers to check with Delta on their flight status” says Fresno Yosemite International Airport’s Vikkie Calderon. “It is unknown at this time what affects the system outage might have on flight delays during the day”.
There is also a travel waiver in affect, allowing those set to fly today to do so at a later date. The link to find out more about that can be found clicking here.
