FRESNO (KMJ) – Fresno County wants to make it easier and faster for the District Attorney to access footage from police body cameras.
“We do have access to that information but its through CD, so you can imagine the time it takes to be downloaded, and it takes time to transmit it from point A to point B.” – Henry Perea, Fresno County Supervisor.
On Tuesday, August 9th, the Fresno County Board of Supervisors will vote on approving an agreement with TASER International, Inc. for access rights to police body camera video evidence.
“So, as soon as the data hits the cloud, our DA can immediately go into the cloud and start reviewing it.” – Supervisor Henry Perea.
The County will also vote on nearly two million dollars in grants to support crime victims, and prevent elder abuse.
A grant application in the amount of $740,155 for the County Victim Services (XC) Program to the State of California Governor’s Office would add two more victim witness advocate positions to provide training, outreach and case management services to victims, as well as upgrade the Probation Department’s database to ensure that crime victims’ information is current.
The Board will also vote on approving a previous $956,064 grant submission to support the James Rowland Crime Victim Assistance Center, add Elder Abuse Services for seniors to reduce or prevent elder abuse, and support transitional care for victims.
