(KMJ) – At least five people are dead and several others injured after a tour bus slams into a pole on Highway 99 between Atwater and LIvingston.
The accident happened just before 3:30 a.m. when the bus carrying about 30 people struck the pole. The CA Highway Patrol says that pole then flew into the bus.
California Highway Patrol says a charter bus driving from Mexico to Pasco, Washington swerved for some reason and hit a pole around 3:30 a.m. Officers say the pole went through the bus. The bus driver has been identified as Mario David Vasquez, 57.
Highway 99 Northbound remains closed to traffic.
