FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The Governor’s Interagency Working Group on Refinery Safety is proposing several new strategies, aiming to improve the practices of oil refineries.
If approved, the regulations would overhaul Cal/OSHA, and bolster the California Accidental Release Prevention Program.
The proposed changes are in response to Chevron refinery blaze in Richmond, back in 2012.
Significant refinery disruptions are estimated to cost Californians an average of $800 million each year.
