FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — After reviewing body camera footage of last month’s fatal encounter between Fresno police and 19-year-old Dylan Noble, Attorney Stuart Chandler, who represents Noble’s mother, has filed a wrongful death claim against the city.
FPD maintains that Noble refused to show his hands, and fearing for their safety, officers fired 4 shots.
However, Chandler says that officers never had a reasonable basis to use deadly force, and never attempted to use anything less, such as a taser.
In an interview with KMJ News, Chandler said, “My expectation is that when we get to the end of this, assuming there is a jury trial, that the conclusion will be that what happened shouldn’t have happened; the city’s responsible for Dylan Noble’s death.”

They’re also calling for an outside agency to investigate, amid hesitation by the department to release the body camera footage to the public.
The claim seeks unspecified damages.
The City Attorney’s Office says, “Our policy is to refrain from discussing any pending claim or litigation.”
