CLOVIS, CA (KMJ) – Clovis Police attempted to serve an arrest warrant to a unidentified individual on Thursday afternoon to a residence on Helm Ave. near Bullard. Police believe the suspect noticed them attempting to serve the warrant, and was in a vehicle with a female. The female got out of the vehicle, and the suspect allegedly threw the car in reverse to try and strike the female. The suspect then allegedly put the car in drive and accelerated at the officers. Two fired three rounds at the suspect’s vehicle. Officers rendered medical aid at the scene until an ambulance arrived to take the suspect to the hospital. The coroner has confirmed he has died.
Clovis Police Chief Matt Bascall says it looks like the officers were justified in taking action against the suspect. The District Attorney is investigating.
