A Slowdown in the Local Economy

KMJ) — The San Joaquin Valley Business Conditions Index, for the first time since December 2013, has fallen below the growth-neutral threshold.

A reading higher than 50 indicates growth over the next 3 to 6 months. However, the Fresno State Craig School of Business says between May and June, the index dipped to 49.5.

What’s responsible? Lower hiring expectations in the valley, and other economic uncertainties.

Still, it’ll take several months of indexes below 45, before a negative economic forecast will be issued.
