FRESNO (KMJ) — A body has been found in the search for a 74 year old man, missing since Monday afternoon in western Fresno County.
Robert Simonian was reported to Fresno County Sheriff’s Office around 12.45pm, after he failed to turn up after a walk from his home close to the intersection of Barstow and Dower Avenues.
He was heading towards Biola, and after the call was made search and rescue personnel were dispatched to look for him. A body was discovered in the canal, running next to Barstow Avenue, Tuesday afternoon.
“We put our dive team into the canal, to try and search the bottom of it”, explains Fresno County Sheriff’s Office’s Tony Botti. “While four of our deputies were in the water holding a line, they hit something on the bottom, they stopped and after a further look they discovered a man’s body at the bottom”.
That man matches the description of the missing 74 year old, and an autopsy has determined that it is Robert Simonian.
