Area Drownings Damper Holiday Weekend

(KMJ)  A pair of July 4th drownings are investigation by Fresno County authorities.

A 4 year old boy was pulled from the waters near Skaggs Bridge on Sunday evening after he went missing 30 minutes earlier.  Officials say the child, identified as Seth Reyes of Madera, did not know how to swim and was not wearing a life vest.  He died later at Children’s Hospital.

Earlier on Sunday afternoon, a 45 year old Orange County man lost his life at Millerton Lake while attempting to save a family member who struggling in the water.  The victim has been identified as Raul Jimenez of Santa Ana.

The Fresno Co. Sheriffs Department says two other victims that were rescued from nearly drowning at Shaver Lake are recovering at local hospitals.

In the south valley, Kern County investigators say they retrieved a body from Lake Ming on Monday.  The swimmer had been reported missing three days earlier.
