FRESNO (KMJ) — The Chief of Fresno Police has made an impassioned request directed towards those who know who’s responsible for the death of a Fresno toddler – to come forward.

20 month old Rashad Halford Jr. was shot the evening of Tuesday 21st June, and pronounced dead the next morning. The motive for the shooting, which took place close to the intersection of First Street and Tulare Avenue, is currently unknown.

Witnesses describe the suspect as wearing a black hoodie, with most of his face covered. As well as Rashad Halford Jr., those hit also included 42 year old Willis Mucleroy and the child’s father Rashad Halford Sr..

The reward for information now stands at $8,500: $5000 from Crimestoppers, and $500 from each of Fresno’s City Councilmembers.

“We know that with absolute certainty, there were people who were at the scene, who witnessed this shooting”, says Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer. “Unfortunately, those individuals have not stepped forward”.

Chief Dyer added that there is concern of reprisals against those rumored to have been responsible, and he wants to make an arrest before an innocent party is targeted.

“So please, do the right thing”.
