FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — An initiative calling for banning magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and requiring background checks for ammo purchases, will be on the November ballot.
The Secretary of State’s Office says proponents of the Safety for All Initiative, including Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, have submitted enough valid signatures.
If approved by voters, it would also license ammunition sellers, mandate that lost or stolen firearms be reported, and establish a process for seizing guns from those who aren’t supposed to own them.
However, gun rights groups and some in law enforcement are campaigning against the initiative, claiming it’ll only harm law-abiding citizens.
