FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — California State Auditor Elaine Howle is blasting the Department of Veterans Affairs, over an expensive, failed computer system.
The department approved a plan to implement a system that would enable veterans to get “consistent and integrated care,” regardless of the facility they visit, back in 2006.
By mid-2012, project managers knew there were major issues, but didn’t even address them until late 2013, and still, they attributed them to user errors.
The grand total for the system, which has yet to be fully implemented, is nearly $28 million.
