FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Under a measure in the California Assembly, which is likely to see tobacco lobbyists working overtime, cigarettes and other tobacco products would only be sold in cigar shops.
Grocery and convenience stores would no longer be able to sell tobacco products, in an effort to get them out of stores visited by minors.
The bill is part the massive campaign against tobacco, which includes raising the legal smoking age to 21, higher taxes, and regulating vaping devices.
If approved, it would take effect in 2019.
