FRESNO (KMJ) — Fresh picked farm produce is on offer once again in Fresno County, with the start of this year’s fruit trail. That time of year when local growers show off their prowess, and highlight what our part of the world does best.
The 13th Fresno County Fruit Trail kicks off Thursday morning, and stands are being populated with strawberries, blueberries, cherries, apricots, peaches and nectarines.
“Actually, because of what a wonderful spring we had, a lot of the fruit came early”, says Fresno County Office of Tourism’s Kristi Johnson.
“So most of our stands are already open for this season and ready for the customers this Memorial Day weekend”.
“It’s about a 50-50 shot that we may have fruit before we officially open for the season so we’ve already been promoting the fact that people can go out”.
For the uninitiated, the self guided the fruit trail is similar to the wine trail but instead of wineries there are family farms and stalls and people can travel around getting the produce fresh from the grower.
