FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The California State Senate has voted to rescind a rule, which prohibited campaign fundraising during budget season.

The policy was adopted two years ago, as part of a senate effort to regain public trust, after three members were criminally charged.

However, Democratic Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon says it gives an unfair advantage to well-funded special interests, who are opposing incumbents.

The suspension of policy is in effect for this legislative year, and will continue until another vote is held.
