FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The Safety for All initiative has received enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot.
California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom says his campaign has more collected about 600,000 signatures, which is far more than they needed.
The Safety for All initiative would require background checks for ammo purchases, mandate that sellers be licensed like gun dealers, and establish a process to seize firearms from people who aren’t allowed to have them.
Howeverm the effort is already drawing strong opposition, namely from pro-gun interests, and the California Sheriffs’ Association.
