FRESNO (KMJ) – Scammers… posing as fire inspectors… targeting local businesses…
The Fresno Fire Department has had multiple reports of scam artists posing as fire inspectors.
“They’re dressed in dark blue uniforms saying they are members of the city and are there to do the annual fire inspection.” – Hector Vasquez, Fresno Fire Department Spokesperson.
Vasquez says the business owner is then ordered to approve a bogus inspection for a fee of up to $500 dollars.
“Members of the Fresno Fire Department do not show up unannounced – if it looks shady do not let them in your business.”
Fresno Fire says if you’re questioning the validity of any inspector call the department at 559-621-4181.
