GOBankingRates: Calif. Among Worst States for Saving Money

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — If getting ahead and improving your finances are goals, moving to another city or state might be a good option.

A new GOBankingRates.com study of the 100 largest cities identifies the top and bottom 15 states, when it comes to saving money.

Cities in Texas, Arizona, and Oklahoma rank among the best.

Researchers looked at sales taxes, home prices, gas prices, food costs, and unemployment rates.

Cities here in California, rank among the worst if you’re trying to put away some cash, led by San Francisco.

Fresno’s said to be the 9th-worst, with Stockton coming in 11th, and Bakersfield coming 14th.

GOBankingRates says if you’re seeking a place to live where you can boost your savings, consider the South, Southwest, or Midwest.
