FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The California Chamber of Commerce has identified 18 bills, which it claims could kills jobs, and harm the Golden State’s economy.
The annual list comes just days after Governor Jerry Brown unveiled plans to boost the minimum wage, something to which the chamber has long-been opposed.
Assembly Bill 1727 would allow independent groups of contractors to organize as unions.
Senate Bill 878 would require stores and restaurants to give employees their schedule, at least a week in advance.
Constitutional Amendment 8 would allow voters to decide on a property tax increase, to fund water projects.
The chamber claims these and several other proposals would have an adverse impact on California’s thousands of businesses, and will likely spend millions of dollars, in an effort to defeat them.
