(KMJ) Despite suffering from a cold Kevin Chappell fought through the sniffles to nearly earn his first career PGA Tour victory Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Classic.
The Buchanan High alum bogeyed 18 and carded a 69 in the final round to finish 16-under.
2015 US Open winner Jason Day put his approach shot on 18 in the sand trap. But, the Aussie played a brilliant bunker shot to put the ball three feet from the hole. Day holed the put for par and a one shot win over Chappell who watched his chances at a first title slip away.
It’s Day’s 8th career PGA victory.
Troy Merritt came up short on 18 and put his ball in the water ending his shot at winning the tournament.
